Athens and Delfi

I took a little trip to see Athens. I've long been a sucker for ancient Greek history and mythology, but never actually went there to see things for myself. I can absolutely recommend it. The feeling of standing amidst 2500 year old ruins is pretty special and the way the city is built around them gives it an extra flair. Sitting in the afternoon sun, having a little coffee with the Acropolis and the ancient Agora in sight is marvelous. Athens is very walkable, apart from some four-lane roads going straight through the city, so also very lovely to just stroll around and see what you can find.

There are many stray cats around, but they do seem to be all spayed/neutered and generally look like they are well taken care of. Basically everybody has catfood out and they get plenty of table-scraps from all the restaurants and cafés around. When you go out of the city, there are also stray dogs to be found.

Since Athens wasn't enough on its own (just kidding, it would definitely have deserved more time), we also took a day trip to see the archeological site and museum of Delfi.

Definitely planning on coming back for a more thorough exploration.
