Summer and Winter Thorsten

Observations about my two distinct and seasonally determined operating modes.

There's a Summer and a Winter Thorsten, and they don't agree on Priorities

This is more of a random observation than anything productive or impactful, and, in fact, somewhat of an apology for the lack of regular content here since I launched this site in March. Initially, the plan was to share my own game-dev journey, learning about shaders, and not least, developing the CMS for this site. But there was a little thing I did not foresee: the person who made this website, he wasn't me. He was Winter Thorsten.

Winter Thorsten likes to spend his time coding, doing game development, or just playing video games. He doesn't go to the gym very much, although he always vows that this is the winter he'll keep his streak alive, and is very much an indoors person. But I'm currently Summer Thorsten. Summer Thorsten likes being outside, as far as his allergies allow. He loves taking photos and sharing them on Bluesky. He swears he could live in the gym, in the mountains, or somewhere on the road, if his job would let him. He still likes playing video games, but coding seems tedious when it's sunny outside.

These are the two sides of me that I'm becoming increasingly aware of. I'm pretty sure you could frame Winter Thorsten as seasonal depression, if you wanted, but I like this point of view outlined here a lot better. I try to work towards each sides' passions and interests as best as I can, instead of forcing Summer Thorsten to do Winter Thorsten things or vice-versa. So there will be a time for more game-dev articles and more coding work, but before that, probably the most common tag in the activity log will be [photo].
